Guides for the places we move people every week

Every city in the Lower Mainland has its own quirks, and most of them only become obvious on moving day. These guides cover what new residents actually ask us: which neighbourhoods suit which households, how people get around, what housing costs look like, and the local details that decide whether a move runs on time.

They are written from 25 years of loading and unloading on these streets, not from a brochure. Where a city has a specific catch, a steep hill, a ferry terminal, a heritage staircase, a tunnel, we say so.

What these guides have in common

Three things decide most Lower Mainland moves: access, timing, and building rules. Access is whether a five-ton truck can get near your door and how far the crew has to carry. Timing is month end and summer, when everyone moves at once. Building rules are the strata elevator bookings, move-in windows, damage deposits, and insurance certificates that catch newcomers out.

Each guide covers those three for its city, then adds what is specific to the place. If you are comparing cities rather than already committed to one, read the moving-day section of each, because that is where they differ most.

Common questions

Which cities do these guides cover?

Vancouver, Surrey, Delta, New Westminster, and White Rock. We move across the whole Lower Mainland, so if your city is not covered here, the locations page lists every area we serve and the moving-day considerations are usually similar to the nearest guide.

Do you charge more to move to a city further away?

No. There is no travel time charge and no fuel surcharge anywhere in the Lower Mainland. A move from Vancouver to Langley is priced on the work involved, not the distance.

What is the busiest time to move in Metro Vancouver?

The last few days of any month, and June through August above all. Leases turn over and completions land at month end, so that is when trucks, crews, and building elevators are all hardest to book. A mid-month weekday in the off season is the easiest date to get.

Can you give a quote without visiting my home?

Yes. We offer a virtual estimate over video as well as a free onsite visit. Either way you get one fixed, all-inclusive quote before moving day rather than an hourly estimate that moves.

Not sure which city fits?

Tell us where you are coming from and where you are headed. We will give you a straight answer and a fixed all-inclusive quote.
